Over 900 signs will mark the Greenbelt Route! Pierre Knobbs of Fontasy signs will have the Niagara batch ready for delivery this week!
The updated signage guidelines are posted on the site under the signage tab. Watch for other updates as we add the connector and trailhead signage designs soon.

Greenbelt Launch planning well underway

Jo Sharland, the GWTA tour director and Marlaine Koehler have been meeting with communities to plan the launch the Greenbelt Route on August 16 to 21. Uxbridge is rolling out the red carpet, generously waiving municipal fees for the Uxpool and Elgin Park where we will camp for the evening. (TORONTO – April 29, 2014) –The Waterfront Regeneration Trust in partnership with the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation is hosting a "Leaders Mobile Workshop" to showcase the planned 470km Greenbelt Route that will be completed for the Pan Am Games in 2015.

The multi-day workshop will take place over six days and travel through seven Greenbelt regions and 26 local municipalities with stops in Niagara, Hamilton, Georgetown, Aurora, Oshawa and Cobourg.

The Greenbelt Route Mapping Workshop was held on October 2nd, 2013 in Milton Ontario. 42 representatives covering the 7 regions and 22 lower tier municipalities gathered to hear about the route development across the Greenbelt. 14 Presentation from regional staff, tourism representatives, Greenbelt Foundation Staff and Waterfront Regeneration Trust staff provided background regarding the condition en route, tourism features, and the new identity for the route. 

The mapping workshop asked participants to populate the draft maps with points of interest, attractions, alerts for cyclists, facilities and transportation nodes for the future PDF and online maps. 

The presentations from the workshop can be found on the Presentations and Resources Page. Updated maps with including the information from the mapping workshop will be distributed later in the Fall.

Invitations have been sent to the key contact identified at each regional partners meeting. Thank you for your work to date on the Greenbelt Cycling Route. The Waterfront Regeneration Trust and Transportation Options has been meeting with partners across the Greenbelt to map out a route and create an exciting new cycling experience in Ontario. 

We would like to invite you to attend the Greenbelt Cycling Route Mapping Workshop. The Mapping Workshop will be an opportunity for partners to see the route in its entirety and learn about progress to date in other regions. The workshop will include a number of presentations from the Greenbelt, Transportation Options, the Waterfront Regeneration Trust, and the regions themselves. Finally, it will be an opportunity to lay out a final routing or identify gaps where the route still needs to be identified. 

There will be interactive sessions and opportunities to network with other planning, transportation and tourism professionals from across the Greenbelt. We will also share strategies and resources for seeking formal approvals for the Greenbelt Cycling Route.
